I've been a freelance artist for around 20 years. For the past two weeks I've been working on the photography for Biola Youth Theatre. It's an intense time commitment, but I'll be back to a more reasonable schedule in the next couple of days.
What is it about teenage girls that makes them say - I look so ugly or I hate how I look in that photo - no matter how beautiful, whimsical or dramatic the shot?
It weighs on me more than it should.
The thing about the teenage girl issue I have is, as a phtographer, no matter how good the shot is from a technical perspective AND aesthetic standpoint (one of my beautiful nieces aged 14-22, for example)it makes me feel like I'm wasting my time trying so hard! Will my daughter be different?!?!? Probably not, huh?

ReplyDeleteMy daughters do pretty well, but we're a family full of photographers and they're used to posing.
ReplyDeleteI hear it over and over during the plays. One mother told me it's their age. I guess it's a girl thing, it doesn't make much sense to me.
